The exhibition ”I need you, I don’t need you” by Rebecka Forsén can be described as a visual diary of fickle affection. The sensual contrasts between raw vulnerability and fleeting power, the addictiveness of sexual highs and emotional lows. A tender portrait of our hunger to be seen versus the fickleness of human connections.
With the title inspired by Leonard Cohens ”Chelsea Hotel” and using the language of abstract expressionism and sexual energy, the paintings unclothe the human desire to be needed, passionately at war with the desire to be free.
I never once heard you say
I need you, I don't need you
I need you, I don't need you
And all of that jiving around
